The Head Coach of the Carolina Dance Team, reporting to the Associate Athletics Director of Marketing, will be responsible for leading and managing the day‑to‑day operations, performance preparation and overall development of the dance team. He/she will ensure that the team maintains a high level of excellence in technique, performance and community engagement, while also overseeing the administration, operational and recruitment aspects of the program.

The role requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about dance and fostering a positive team culture.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination of certification, training, education and/or experience).

• Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Sports Management, or Education.
• Extensive experience in collegiate‑level coaching, choreography and team management.

• Strong knowledge of dance technique, performance and competition preparation.
• Excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, staff and administrators.

• Lead the team: prepare, schedule and run 10–15 hours of practice per week (mid‑July to March), attend all home football and basketball games as needed, oversee national competition preparations, and design all choreography for game day, sideline and national routines. (40%)
• Administrative side: marketing and social media efforts, uniform/supply purchases, travel needs, mid‑season and end‑of‑year reviews, and develop alumni engagement strategies. (20%)
• Assist in planning spirit days, camps, banquets and other team events with the Associate Director of Marketing and Head Cheer Coach. (10%)
• Assist in developing fundraising opportunities for the team, including camps, alumni relationships and community involvement.
• Lead recruiting efforts, travel to recruitment combines and host camps in Columbia, and manage all communication with prospective members.
