Valid CDL Plus Air Brake Certification, Current Medical certificate.
Ability to assist when necessary heavy and continuous physical work: pushing, maneuvering and lifting containers weighing up to 70 pounds; excellent communication skills; ability to use all equipment to perform job at a high level of proficiency; ability to work logically in emergencies and stressful situations: ability to respond to residents' request and refer when appropriate inquiries to the office; drive and operate automated refuse trucks—maintaining and safely operating the refuse trucks;
learn and follow a designated refuse collection route, handling solid waste properly and safely; perform minor service and maintenance to refuse trucks and equipment; operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices; direct the work of others. Typical duties include loading the trucks, dumping/unloading trucks at the designated landfill, performing the DOT required services and reporting for repair, keeping route records, keeping your trucks clean with the help of the loaders, monitoring their radio messages throughout the workday.
