General Management, Contracts Manager
Directs and manages all aspects of delivery activities and department staff at specified location(s); including responsibility for planning, coordinating and assigning work to Dispatchers, Drivers and/or Yard personnel in order to meet or exceed scheduling goals.
Responsibilities- Manage the delivery scheduling activities and department staff, ensuring coordination between daily delivery schedules and Driver assignments.
- Establish schedules that ensure economical delivery options are utilized and optimize materials handling equipment and delivery vehicles.
- Maintain a check on materials inventories, production programs and other factors that affect delivery schedules.
- Revise schedules based on changes to orders, cancellations, returns, and revised forecasts; determine recourse in event of failure to meet schedules.
- Manage a department to ensure achievement of functional and budget/financial goals.
- Track and report on delivery mileage, fuel usage, vehicle repairs and other delivery-related issues to management.
- Manage assigned employees including staff selection and training; plan, assign and direct work; conduct performance reviews; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Manages staff to include the delivery scheduling activities, ensuring coordination between daily delivery schedules, and Driver assignments.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree and six (6) years of experience coordinating shipping/delivery activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience required.
Competencies- Knowledge of company practices and standards for product shipping/delivery
- Knowledge of business mathematics
- Knowledge of DOT regulations or other requirements regulating delivery schedules
- Good leadership skills and ability to achieve work productivity through others
- Ability to read and write delivery schedules and reports
