Postal Center Director Kirkland Correctional Institution, Columbia; RICHLAND Level 3

Job Responsibilities

Supervises overall mailroom activity including receiving mail and parcels from deliveries to the United States Postal Facility serving the institution.

Accountable for outgoing/incoming numbered, insured, certified, and registered mail.

Maintains timely distribution and processing of inmate mail.

Ensures inmate legal mail is received and distributed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

Required to operate postage meter and monitor usage.

Checks postal/parcel weighing scales for accuracy.

Provides security while mail is in transport.

Accounts for postage, copies, restitution, etc.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• An associate degree or higher with one (1) year of supervisory experience may be substituted for the required work experience.
