Postal Center Director Kirkland Correctional Institution, Columbia; RICHLAND Level 3

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises overall mailroom activity, including receiving mail and parcels from deliveries to the United States Postal Facility serving the institution.
• Accountable for outgoing/incoming numbered, insured, certified, and registered mail.
• Maintains timely distribution and processing of inmate mail.
• Ensures inmate legal mail is received and distributed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Operates postage meter and monitors usage.
• Checks postal/parcel weighing scales for accuracy.
• Provides security while mail is in transport.
• Accounts for postage, copies, restitution, etc.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.

• A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• An associate degree or higher with one (1) year of supervisory experience may be substituted for the required work experience.
