Role OverviewWe're looking for a Part-Time Diesel/Maintenance Technician to keep our Class 8 tractors, chassis, and trailers running safely and on schedule out of our Marion, SC facility. This is a great fit for an experienced diesel tech who wants flexible, part-time hours.
Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, and repair Class 8 tractors, chassis, and trailers
- Perform routine and DOT-required inspections
- Diagnose and fix issues with air brake systems, diesel engines, and electrical systems
- Keep the fleet DOT-compliant and road ready
- Work with the Transportation Manager and Safety Transportation Manager on repair priorities
- Help reduce downtime and outside repair costs
- Keep accurate maintenance and repair records
- Follow all safety procedures and standards
- Fleet stays DOT-compliant with no unexpected downtime
- Repairs are done right the first time
- Third-party repair costs go down
- Transportation team trusts the fleet is road ready
- 2+ years of diesel/heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of air brake systems, diesel engines, and electrical systems
- Familiarity with DOT inspection standards (49 CFR Parts 393/396)
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license, required
- Able to lift 50+ pounds
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions
- Able to bend, kneel, and climb as needed
- Detail-oriented and reliable
