Position: Highway Maintenance Worker II - Heavy Equipment Operator (61036666)
Location: Columbia

Job Responsibilities

Operates motor graders in ditching, shoulder operations, grading and machining roads, driveway installation or snow and ice removal. Operates a combination front-end loader and backhoe to clean out drainage ditches and to install sideline and crossline pipe. Operates a tandem dump truck hauling materials to and from the jobsite. Operates hand and power tools. Uses chainsaws in removal of trees and limbs from right of way.

Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts. Sets up traffic control according to Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Standards to warn motorists of roadwork ahead. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
