Location: Columbia

Position Overview

Ryder is hiring Stand‑Up Forklift Operators in Columbia, South Carolina for warehouse operations. Weekly pay, benefits, and a career you can feel good about.

Compensation and Schedule
  • Hourly Pay: $17.50 per hour
  • Overtime Pay: $26.25 per hour
  • Weekend Pay: $4.00 per hour extra when working a weekend day
  • Schedule:

    First Shift 6:00 am—6:00 pm with a 2‑days‑on, 2‑days‑off cycle, alternating 36‑hour and 48‑hour weeks; 3‑day weekend off every other weekend.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • One year or more experience in warehouse and/or powered industrial truck operations (preferred)
  • Valid Forklift Operator’s License
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment and maintain professional relationships at all levels
  • Highly thorough, dependable, and punctual with good attendance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Initiative and high accuracy even under pressure
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 35 lbs and stand for long periods
  • Commitment to health and safety methods and flexible schedule availability
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow‑up practices
Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of warehouse functions including loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, and cycle counting
  • Operate within performance measurement guidelines of the contract
  • Accurately pick, pack, audit, and stage products; load and unload trucks
  • Handle day‑to‑day paperwork such as picking sheets, returns, and bills of lading
  • Provide technical and maintenance support during core shift hours for an automated packing system
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Background Screening

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or background checks required by the customer to which the candidate is assigned.
