MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
- Must possess current or temporary Radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided.
- Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
- Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of Radiology.
- No state license is required for PA.
- Radiography License or Temporary Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board.
- Must be nationally certified as defined by location where services will be provided. MD:
Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire; OH: same; PA: within 6 months of graduation; WV: prior to expiration of WV temporary license. - Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- State criminal background check and federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE
- Obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS) within one year of hire.
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of experience as an interventional radiologic technologist.
- Monitors and interprets hemodynamic monitoring.
- Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies necessary for physicians and other lab personnel involved to scrub and enter the lab without infraction 100% of the time.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit information, without infraction, as monitored by supervision.
- Prepares entry site applicable to the procedure using sterile technique.
- Continuously monitors patient's ECG and blood pressure while documenting and advising the physician of any and all activity in an accurate and timely manner and providing documentation that will become part of the patient's permanent record.
- Participates in on‑call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures 24 hours a day.
- Acts as laboratory's code team by initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators under direct supervision of the physician in charge.
- Correctly documents all procedures performed and utilizes the inventory control system that is established; correctly bills for all procedures.
- Participates in educational and in‑service opportunities.
- Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting with regard to patient positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment and use of accessory devices to obtain radiographic images.
- Maintains specialization in neuroradiology and vascular IR procedures.
- Participates in inventory management of the department.
- Checks and prepares patient prior to procedure.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:
Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, in‑services, and competency validation.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while wearing lead aprons.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
- The work environment is clinical by nature.
- While performing duties, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation. Noise level usually moderate.
- Maintains radiation safety.
- Ability to communicate with physicians and peers on a professional level.
- Knowledgeable in sterile technique.
- Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, and transmitting images to data storage system.
