This position functions as the assistant to the operating surgeon during the operative procedure and provides comprehensive nursing management and care during the perioperative phase.

• Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) Certification through Competency and Credentialing Institute.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.

• Three (3) years clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) year of RNFA experience.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• Performs RNFA interventions consistent with procedures established by the Department of Surgery and/or as directed by the Director of Surgery or by the surgeon.
• Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently puts patient safety first when performing job duties.
• Submits required reports including departmental reports, quality/safety reports, 90-day evaluations, competency and performance planning documents in a timely manner.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information in verbal, written and electronic form. Assures that rights to privacy and confidentiality are maintained for patients, employees, physicians, and all other customers.
• Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration with co-workers, patients and other customers throughout department and hospital.
• Effectively communicates problems/ opportunities for improvement. Provides constructive input through the use of effective verbal/written communication skills.
• Attends required in-service presentations. Completes mandatory education requirements.
• Uses equipment safely and effectively. Properly identifies and reports equipment service needs.
• Documents work using department‑specific forms/computer systems accurately and completely.
• Uses established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
• Systematically collects, communicates and records data pertaining to the health status and nursing needs of patient on an ongoing basis.
• Participates in the planning of individualized patient care with the patient, physician, anesthesia and family.
• Utilizes established policies, procedures and protocols when implementing the patient’s plan of care in an effort to positively affect patient outcome.
• Participates in evaluating and improving delivery of patient care in the surgical setting.
• Demonstrates responsibility for individual performance to ensure the timely completion of job duties.
• Understands and demonstrates role in compliance with the Joint Commissions National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG’s), documentation, and participation of Core Measures.
