About the role
Senior Laboratory Technician – South Charleston, WV. This role performs technical execution of catalyst preparation and disposal activities and provides guidance for the Quality Control laboratory that supports 24/7 pilot plant operations.
Responsibilities- Apply advanced skills and technical expertise to lead safe and efficient operation of catalyst preparation labs and QC laboratory.
- Serve as primary focal point for catalyst preparation and disposal activities supporting 24/7 pilot plant operations, delivering safe and precise actions for process continuity.
- Lead improvements in catalyst lab and QC lab performance and operating discipline, including creating and improving job procedures, facility work processes, and solving complex problems.
- Develop project plans and procedures with engineers, leadership, and maintenance craft, and ensure technicians understand and execute them.
- Use troubleshooting skills to coach while resolving process and lab related deviations and problems.
- Ensure adherence to Life Critical Standards, driving facility safety and training culture by example.
- Mentor lab technicians on QC analysis and response to improve group capability in safe, reliable, and repeatable product quality data.
- Identify knowledge gaps in equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance and coach to improve group capability.
- Develop curriculum and participate in Training Review Boards for lab technicians, contributing to approval decisions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s Degree with relevant work experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience required.
- U.S. based position – must be able to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.

- Laboratory Safety – demonstrate rigorous adherence to Life Critical Standards and safe handling, operation, preparation, and disposal of catalysts.
- Laboratory Instrumentation – advanced knowledge of laboratory and process equipment used in catalyst preparation and quality control.
- Process Optimization – identify, develop, and implement improvements to laboratory procedures, workflows, operating discipline, and facility processes.
- Proactive Problem Solving – troubleshoot complex laboratory, process, and equipment deviations, diagnose root causes, and coach others to prevent recurrence.
- Leadership – provide non‑supervisory leadership through mentoring technicians, serving as subject matter expert, guiding training and curriculum development, and modeling safety, quality, and operational behaviors.
