The Community Consultative Group is seeking expressions of interest from 2–3 community members to serve as community member representatives. This opportunity is open to members of all ages who are interested in supporting community policing priorities, public safety, and respectful collaboration between the community and Indigenous Policing Service officers
.
· The primary purpose of the Community Consultative Group is to provide an opportunity for the group and Indigenous Policing Service officers to discuss community policing matters
.
· The group supports the development, review, and updating of the RCMP Letter of Expectation
.
· Interested community members should be willing and able to represent the community’s interests regarding policing priorities, public safety priorities
, and the delivery of Dedicated Police Services
.
· Members may be required to obtain a Criminal Record Check if they have access to sensitive information, information systems, or financial contributions made by the Province for the purposes of the project.
Role and ResponsibilitiesCommunity Consultative Group members are expected to:
· Prepare for committee meetings by reading reports and background materials and obtaining information needed for informed discussion and decision making
.
· Become knowledgeable about the committee’s functions and mandate.
·
Participate fully and respectfully in committee discussions.
·
Attend committee meetings regularly.
·
Avoid conflicts of interest and comply with conflict of interest policies and procedures established by Council or under Lower Nicola Indian Band laws and policies.
The Community Consultative Group will support the following outcomes:
o Improved operation of the Community Consultative Group for the delivery of Dedicated Police Services that are professional, dedicated, and culturally responsive.
o Increased collaboration and trust between the LNIB community and Merritt RCMP.
