The Early Childhood Educator will provide developmentally appropriate instruction and care for young children in an on-site classroom setting located in Lennox, SD. This full-time role includes planning and delivering engaging lessons that support early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional skills, and motor development. The educator will create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment, establish routines, and support positive behavior. Daily responsibilities include observing and assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating regularly with families and school staff.
The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, and following district policies and state regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in early learning environments.
- Demonstrated creativity skills in designing engaging, age-appropriate activities and learning materials.
- Experience working with children in educational or child care settings, with a commitment to inclusion and equity.
- Solid organization skills for managing classroom routines, documentation, and multiple tasks.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (or progress toward such a degree, as applicable).
- Any required state certifications or licenses for early childhood or elementary teaching, or eligibility to obtain them according to South Dakota standards.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment, engage in continuous learning, and adapt instructional strategies to diverse learner needs.
