Paraprofessional
A paraprofessional assists the teacher in helping students achieve learning objectives, supervises students outside of the classroom and provides administrative support for teaching.
Qualification/Basic
Job Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 48 college credits or an AA degree or a successful passing score on the PRAXIS test.
- College credits in elementary education, special education or a related educational field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children as an aide, daycare provider, or a related area working with children preferred.
- Ability to operate a computer and related software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other Functions:
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. The employee is continuously responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
- Assists teachers in keeping bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up to date.
- Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
- Helps students with their clothing as needed.
- Collects and records collection of money for raffles and fundraisers.
- Participates in inservice training/workshops/programs as assigned.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds such as pushing children on swings or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
