Location:
Wall Township, NJ (On‑Site)
Employment Type:
Full‑Time, Exempt Department:

Reports To:
Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Engineering Manager Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience
We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team specializing in control systems for material handling and conveyor applications. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career engineer to develop their electrical design skills in a structured, project‑driven environment alongside experienced engineers.
In this role, you will support the development of electrical design packages — including schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials — using AutoCAD Electrical. You will receive direct guidance from senior engineers while taking on increasing responsibility as your skills grow. A strong foundation in electrical fundamentals, a sharp eye for detail, and a desire to learn industrial design practices are the keys to success here.
ElectricalSchematic Design
- Assist in the development of electrical design packages including power distribution one‑line diagrams, motor control schematics, I/O wiring diagrams, and field device wiring details using AutoCAD Electrical
- Produce panel layout drawings including din rail arrangements, wire duct routing, terminal block assignments, and enclosure configurations under the direction of senior engineers
- Maintain drawing numbering, revision logs, and project drawing registers
- Perform self‑verification checks on completed drawings prior to senior review
- Assist in developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for control panels and field instrumentation based on design specifications and component libraries
- Support purchasing and fabrication teams by organizing drawing packages and responding to basic drawing questions
- Assist in maintaining as‑built drawing packages upon project completion
- Help prepare Description of Operation (DOO) documents and other project deliverables under senior engineer direction
- Follow internal electrical design standards, schematic templates, title block conventions, and component libraries within AutoCAD Electrical
- Manage project drawing files within Autodesk Vault, including check‑in/check‑out, revision control, and folder organization
- Flag design questions or discrepancies to senior engineers promptly
- Develop familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 79, and UL 508A
- Build working knowledge of industrial control system components — PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, safety relays, photoelectric sensors, and proximity switches
- Actively participate in design reviews and internal engineering meetings to build project and product knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET), or closely related field
- 0–2 years of professional experience in electrical design or industrial automation; internship or co‑op experience in a relevant field is a plus
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or demonstrated ability to learn it quickly; coursework or personal project experience accepted
- Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals — circuits, power distribution, motor control, and wiring practices
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, organized work
- Ability to follow established design standards and take direction from senior engineers
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Electrical through coursework, internship, or professional work
- Exposure to industrial control system components such as PLCs, VFDs, contractors, or field sensors
- Familiarity with Autodesk Vault or other document management systems
- Basic understanding of control panel construction standards (UL 508A) or electrical codes (NEC)
- Any exposure to conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or parcel handling applications
- Familiarity with…
