This position is eligible for a $10,000 Sign on Bonus. Department details: schedule will vary and include nights and weekends, non-block scheduling, additional $5 per hour FLEX premium, additional $1.25 per hour weekend shift differential, additional $1.25 per hour evening/night shift differential (6:00pm – 6:00am).
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long-term care. The NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the care plan. The NA is a member of the nursing team and follows infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with basic health care needs, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, vital sign recording, and psychosocial support.
- Support residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment, and provide range-of-motion and passive exercises.
- Prepare and serve food, create a positive dining experience, and provide water and supplements for residents.
- Aide nursing staff with procedures when needed.
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
- Communicate changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry support to maintain resident areas.
- Assist and document participation in wellness and recreational programs.
- Participate in departmental and organization committees and task forces as required.
- High school graduation or GED (preferred but not required).
- Minimum age 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA within four months of employment. Training program provided.
- Satisfy yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
- Maintain all department-specific required certifications, including UAP Registry when applicable.
- May classify as a Sanford Category II Driver: requires a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle report, and medical qualification per Sanford Driving Policy.
