- 84 hours per pay period, 7p‑m Wednesday, Thursday, Friday nights and every other Tuesday night.
- Provide basic care to patients, ensuring patient safety, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Ensure that the ANA scope and standards of practice and the code of ethics for nurses are the foundation for nursing practice.
- Promote high quality care, outcomes, nursing research, and evidence‑based practice and contribute to building and maintaining a strong environment that facilitates collaboration to achieve quality outcomes.
- Utilize a consistent, patient‑focused care approach to meet patient needs and demonstrate initiatives to utilize a holistic approach to identify patient needs.
- Utilize analytical skills and advanced assessment skills necessary to assess a patient’s condition and utilize that data through the nursing process and clinical judgment to provide comprehensive care.
- Core LPN practices including admission and discharge processes, physical assessments, medication administration and management, lab specimen collection, glucose monitoring, documentation, patient/family education, wound care, pre‑op and post‑op care, ostomy care, orthotic devices, and pain management.
- Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of the outcomes, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
- Safely administer medications following policy/procedure and report errors, near misses or adverse drug reactions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare and maintain a record of observations and care given; document information clearly and completely utilizing correct forms/systems and in a timely manner according to Center policy.
- Assist with medical appointments and medical procedures as requested by MD.
- Educate and prepare the patient/family for future self‑management by facilitating patient movement from passive to an active partnership and eventually to a personal self‑care expert.
- Serve as a clinical preceptor for new staff/students as appropriate and provide shadowing experiences for prospective new employees as requested.
- Ensure appropriate usage/ordering of supplies and proper charging; perform consistently with Shepherd Center standards, clinical policies, and procedures.
- Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures; report employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
- Participate actively in center‑wide efforts that affect nursing practice and monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
- Identify potential risk areas within area of responsibility and support problem resolution process.
- Perform other duties as required/requested/assigned.
Minimum Education
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- BLS required.
- Active Georgia LPN license.
- Minimum one (1) year LPN experience preferred.
