Faulkton Area Medical Center (FAMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dedicated healthcare team. This is an exciting opportunity for a provider who enjoys a diverse practice and values building lasting relationships with patients in a rural community.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable caring for patients across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including the clinic, hospital, and emergency department. Providers at FAMC work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, EMS, and specialists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care close to home.

- Diverse practice including primary care, inpatient care, and emergency services
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
- Provide preventive care, wellness visits, and routine physical examinations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Manage and monitor patients with chronic diseases
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing
- Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with specialists and community resources
- Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention and health management
- Assess, stabilize, and manage emergent patient conditions
- Participate in emergency department coverage, including triage, trauma assessment, stabilization, and coordination of transfers when higher levels of care are required
- Provide care to hospital and long-term care patients as needed
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current South Dakota licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and healthcare team members
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient-centered care
- Experience in a rural healthcare or Critical Access Hospital setting
- Experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or acute care settings
- Experience with patient triage, trauma assessment, stabilization, and transfer coordination
- ACLS, BLS, ATLS, PALS certifications
- One or more years of clinical practice experience
