Salary Range: $18.50 - $25.50 per hour
Pay Information: $5,000 Sign on Bonus

Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. As a member of the nursing team, you are expected to know and will be held accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and personal protective equipment use.

Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned resident.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities (bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, etc.)
  • Collect and record vital signs and perform basic health care tasks.
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care and behavior.
  • Communicate resident condition changes to the charge nurse.
  • Assist with food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience.
  • Assist with housekeeping and laundry services for residents’ living areas.
  • Participate in wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and PPE usage.
  • Support nursing staff during procedures as required.
  • Participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care (preferred).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position, or enrolled in an approved training program and in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement.
  • Complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain a record of continuing education credits for each year.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
  • Ability to work required hours, including possible weekends/holidays.
Driving Duties (if applicable)
  • May be classified as Sanford Category II Driver requiring a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle report, and proof of insurance.
  • Minimum medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
