The Registered Nurse demonstrates effective leadership skills and supports the nursing department's philosophy, objectives, and vision for empowered nursing practice, and assists in short and long range planning for the nursing unit and department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for safety, service, and delivery of nursing care provided on the unit. Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide nursing care for a specific group of patients. Individually responsible for maintaining and updating professional practice and seeking professional opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Demonstrate ability to perform all essential job functions of Registered Nurse.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the workflow of the unit.
  • Monitor patient care and unit processes to assure a safe, customer-focused approach.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with individuals, groups, and community.
  • Maintain a high level of clinical competency and set high standards of performance expectations for personnel on the unit.
  • Share knowledge with staff and serve as a role model; maintain clinical skills as required.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of current policies and procedures.
  • Review patient plan of care with direct caregivers to offer suggestions/interventions to enhance efficiency and quality of care.
  • Coordinate and maintain appropriate staffing levels to maximize department efficiency and provide for safe, optimal patient care.
  • Coordinate the flow of patients transferring in and out of the unit.
  • Communicate staffing needs of the unit and bed availability.
  • Assist with the collection and maintenance of Performance Improvement Tools as needed.
  • Conduct or participate in interdisciplinary rounds as appropriate.
  • Communicate with physicians, families, community agencies, social services, home care, and other disciplines.
  • Facilitate resolution of physician/family concerns and report to proper management.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • TNCC can be acquired in the first year of employment.
  • LPN: $24-$32 depending on experience.
  • 12‑hour shifts 6:30 pm – 6:30 am.
  • PTO and extended sick time available.
  • 100% paid health, vision, and dental insurance coverage for employee.
