Job Description

Position:
Chaplain (Job   / ) located at Pickaway Correctional Institution, West Jefferson, Ohio. The role is full‑time with a compensation rate of $31.74 per hour and is represented by Union 1199.

• Work under direction and apply deep knowledge of religious principles and practices of your faith, combined with clinical pastoral education.
• Conduct worship services, sacramental observations, and religious educational programs for inmates.
• Plan and organize sermons, bible studies, and other chaplaincy programs.
• Screen volunteers and outside church groups and coordinate and schedule volunteer activities.
• Provide spiritual guidance and clinical pastoral education concerning personal, family, or spiritual problems (e.g., death, confinement, substance abuse, cults, youth behavior).
• Ensure policy and procedure compliance for outside church groups.
• Initiate and complete religious assessments to identify spiritual needs and coordinate activities with other treatment services.
• Attend meetings, seminars, conferences, and community religious leadership meetings.
• Maintain attendance and confidential records and attend annual training.
• Serve on relevant committees.

• Current ecclesiastical endorsement by a denomination and/or ordination.
• Completion of clinical pastoral education training provided by denominational or inter‑denominational organizations.
• At least 12 months experience providing clinical pastoral education.
• Corrections, counseling, rehabilitation, interviewing, public speaking, teamwork, organizing and planning, and time management skills.
