Job Overview

Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being.

• Education – high school diploma or GED is required.
• Physical Requirement – applicants must be able to lift over 50 pounds, be in excellent physical condition, have good distant vision in one eye, ability to read printed material, and require glasses if needed.
• Hearing Requirement – ability to hear conversational voice with or without hearing aid; some positions may accept persons who are blind or deaf.
• Manual Coordination – good hand and foot coordination required; amputation of an arm, hand, leg or foot will not disqualify an applicant if it can be compensated with a satisfactory prosthesis.
• Work Environment – most work indoors with adequate heat, lights, ventilation; exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions; subject to injuries when working on ladders and operating heavy equipment.
