Location: Hartford

The Logistics Supervisor oversees daily shipping, receiving, and transportation activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely movement of materials and finished goods. This role leads logistics team members in maintaining compliance with company policies and DOT regulations, while supporting continuous improvement in cost, service, and performance consistent with CSMI’s “Right. On Time. Every Time.” and “Own It, Can Do, Act in Love” values.

Core

Functions
  • Supervise daily logistics operations, including shipping schedules, route planning, and carrier assignments, to ensure on‑time delivery performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor shipment tracking and address delays or service issues proactively to meet established service‑level expectations.
  • Lead, train, and develop logistics team members to achieve high performance, accuracy, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, Customer Service, and Sales teams to align logistics priorities with order fulfillment goals.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and internal safety standards, maintaining accurate driver and fleet documentation.
  • Analyze key logistics metrics (on‑time delivery, freight costs, claims) and implement corrective or preventive actions to improve efficiency.
  • Support cost‑control initiatives by evaluating carrier performance, freight rates, and load optimization opportunities.
  • Champion continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to reduce waste, streamline processes, and improve throughput.

Performs other duties and activities related to the department as necessary to support overall operations and responsibilities, even if not specifically listed above.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes supervisory responsibilities. The employee is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and guidance to assigned staff to ensure departmental goals and objectives are achieved. Responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching, evaluating performance, approving time off, and administering disciplinary action in alignment with company policies and procedures. The supervisor is expected to foster a positive, collaborative work environment that supports employee development and upholds company values.

Minimum

Required Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, shipping, or transportation operations.
  • 1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation management systems.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Industrial Management.
  • 5+ years of logistics experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Prior experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel or logistics reporting tools.
