Job Description
Babbitting Service Inc (BSI) operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where product availability, inventory accuracy, and supplier coordination are critical to our production success. We are seeking detail-oriented and motivated Procurement Specialist who must possess blueprint reading skills to join our purchasing team.
ScheduleOnsite, first shift
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities- Oversee purchase orders (POs) from quoting through delivery by monitoring supplier lead times and following up on open orders to maintain accurate records of expected arrival dates
- Maintain accurate expected deliver dates and purchasing records
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels of supplies across the facility
- Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels on supplies throughout facility
- Communicate regularly with vendors to confirm availability, pricing, and shipment timelines
- Negotiate pricing and/or lead times with suppliers to meet budget and scheduling
- Resolve supplier issues including delays, shortages, quality concerns, and discrepancies
- Collaborate with warehouse staff and sales team to ensure availability of supplies
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities (e.g., order consolidation, standardization, competitive bidding)
- Interpret blueprint drawings to support sourcing of machined components and respond to supplier inquiries
- Support inventory cycle counts and continuous inventory improvement initiatives
- Assist with supplier audits and performance evaluations
- Scout new potential suppliers and perform pre-qualifications
BSI participates in E-Verify
Completion of background check required
Requirements- Proficient, ability to read and interpret blueprints (minimum of two (2) years blueprint reading experience)
- Minimum of one (1) year purchasing experience in a manufacturing field
- Effective communication and vendor management skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft
- Experience managing purchase orders in a manufacturing setting
- Experience working with ERP systems
24-30 Hourly Wage
