Job Description
Role OverviewAn SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Operator at Creative Electronics & Software is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT machines used in the assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). The operator ensures machines run efficiently, troubleshoots issues, and performs quality checks to meet production standards
Key Responsibilities- Setup & Operation: Configure and operate SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines, screen printers, reflow ovens, and AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) systems according to work order specifications
- Production Monitoring: Monitor machines during operation, make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of SMT machines to keep them in optimal condition
- Quality Control: Inspect and test components and assemblies for defects using AOI and other inspection tools
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or process issues to minimize downtime
- Process Support: Assist in process optimization, follow standardized quality control procedures, and collaborate with production teams for continuous improvement
- Training: Provide guidance and training to new operators on SMT processes and equipment use
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly, soldering, and desoldering
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends
- Experience with solder paste printing, component placement, and reflow soldering
- Familiarity with AOI and other quality inspection tools
- Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques
The role is typically performed in a manufacturing plant setting, involving physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, working with electronic tools, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
