Truck Driver CDL A Local Causal

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Casual Class A CDL Truck Driver in South Elgin, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a rewarding driving career.

• Weekly Pay: $600 – $800 or more per week
• Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour
• Hours Per Week: 20 hours guaranteed per week with opportunity to work more
• Paid Training
• Schedule:
  
  Part‑Time, Monday‑Friday
• Start Time Options: 4:00 AM – 6:30 AM or 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM

• Trucks are 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and company fuel support at over 800 maintenance facilities nationwide
• Uniforms, cell phone & boot allowance provided
• Drivers are the Captain — you make safety decisions, job protected

• Ryder will train you on all equipment needed to be successful

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety & DOT regulations, continuous training, and customer service
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by customer
• Other tasks as assigned
