Field Payroll CBA Specialist

Ensures union fringe benefits compliance, manages reconciliations, audits, and cross‑functional coordination.

• Ensure all union fringe benefits are accurately set up and calculated in payroll systems.
• Reconcile fringe benefit accruals, payments, and general ledger entries.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries for fringe benefits.
• Coordinate payroll adjustments with other Field Payroll teams, ensuring timely completion.
• Prepare monthly fringe reports and element register reports (401(k), health plans, supplemental benefits).
• Collaborate with Trust Funds and Local Unions to maintain accurate member data.
• Address complex reporting errors and amend fringe reports as needed.
• Assist auditors with compliance audits and respond to audit mail requests.
• Support labor statistics reporting and survey requirements.
• Prepare pension footnotes for financial statements and annual pension contribution reports.
• Identify process improvement and automation opportunities.
• Work with IT on union benefits reporting issues and system enhancements.
• Help train Field Payroll CBA Specialist 1 and 2 on their assigned tasks.
• Respond to complex trust funds, union, and employee inquiries, escalating when necessary.
• Provide support on fringe reports, reviewing incoming mail, new‑hire setup, and VOE requests.
• Make deduction and refund adjustments for under‑ or over‑payments.
• Update Rate Grids and communicate all CBA agreement changes to impacted parties.
• Prepare SOPs and other documentation to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

• Advance knowledge of payroll and union fringe requirements.
• Ability to independently follow procedures and policies.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Ability to mentor others and share expertise.
• Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5 to 7 years of progressive union payroll or benefits experience.
• Advanced knowledge of CBAs, fringe benefits, and multi‑union environments.
• In‑depth experience with multi‑state union payrolls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Exposure to payroll systems preferred;
  Oracle Fusion is a plus.

Travel up to 5% of time.

General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

$38.60–$51.00 hourly, depending on location, experience, skills, and education.
