The Director of Construction leads the Construction Teams by oversight in all phases of the construction project. The Director of Construction approves the original project budget and oversees the overall progress and profitability of each project from start to finish, including any emergencies, work delays, and other problems that affect the completion. The role is responsible for delivering a quality project that surpasses the client’s expectations.

Responsibilities- Support the Vice President of Construction with assigned responsibilities.
- Manage Senior Project Managers / Project Managers and support all construction activities through Project Management collaboration.
- Manage team performance, including appraisals, coaching, and development; communicate expectations and enforce policies, procedures, and standards; implement disciplinary action when necessary.
- Oversee the creation of master schedules, project timelines, and milestones.
- Review and approve project-specific budgets.
- Train assigned individuals on the company’s project financial objectives.
- Assign project managers to execute negotiated and awarded projects based on experience and customer expectations.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Work with the Construction Team to meet customer expectations.
- Administer timely performance reviews for direct reports.
- Assist in interviews and hiring for the construction and estimating department.
- Resolve unforeseen project conditions with Project Managers, including subcontractor challenges.
- Review Project Managers’ weekly schedules and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Review outgoing weekly project updates for accuracy and completeness before submitting them to the customer.
- Review the estimating teams’ bid proposals before submission to the customer.
- Review and sign construction-related documents, including contracts, change orders, subcontracts, warranty and guarantee letters, and any other document included in the project requirements.
- Provide support, backup documentation, information, insights, and direction regarding any disputes between the company, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Mentor company employees by sharing experiences, pitfalls, and solutions.
- Serve as a responsible leader through the direction and guidance of the team to ensure all safety requirements for all jobs are upheld.
- Adhere to all aspects of our Health, Safety, and Environmental Program for self-protection and the protection of co‑workers, subcontractors, the public, and the client by supporting all company safety efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 15 years of experience with related project management roles or equivalent.
- Preferred degree in construction management or a related field.
- Proven track record of success with measurable achievements in leadership roles.
- Experience managing commercial construction teams in all project facets, including onsite and offsite work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the project.
- Experience with scheduling, purchasing, estimating, and learning management of personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft software suite; experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Excellent time‑management skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask to meet all established deadlines.
- Ability to identify a need, remove barriers, and know how to make things happen.

- Must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate state driver’s license before employment, along with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
