Position Summary
Supports heat treat operations by ensuring accuracy of process records and compliance to procedures and standards. Resolves non-conformances and leads cross‑functional projects to improve departmental processes. Typically holds 5+ years of relevant engineering experience. Directly reports to Technical Manager with indirect reporting to the Quality and Heat Treat Operations departments.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
Employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, be aware of company policies, and follow ethical standards. All functions must be performed in conformance with applicable policies.
- Review all Heat Treat Process Records (HTPRs) and generate charts.
- Review and disposition non‑conformances (MRRs) and conduct root‑cause corrective action activities.
- Involve in product risk assessments involving furnaces.
- Work on special projects to improve the heat treat department.
- Lead and partner cross‑functionally on new and ongoing projects for the department.
- Support revision of new forms and procedures required for the department.
- Work closely with Maintenance and Production Departments to evaluate equipment problems and assist in solutions, e.g., SAT/TUS failures.
- Assist in implementation of controls for new equipment and upgrade controls for existing equipment, and in data collection projects.
- Coordinate instrument calibration recalls.
- Conduct routine audits and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with internal procedures, manufacturing plans, and applicable pyrometry specifications (AMS
2750). - Participate and prepare for all audits internally and externally, including customer audits.
- Create training materials for Heat Treat Operators.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and present information effectively to managers, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle multiple variables.
- Ability to communicate freely, make presentations, and discuss controversial issues reasonably; demonstrated communication across organizational levels.
- Thorough understanding of Aerospace Heat Treating and Forging processes and specifications including AMS
2750, Nadcap, and Customer Specifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
5+ years of experience in engineering in heavy industrial plant engineering management.
5+ years of AMS
2750 experience and/or training.
The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk or hear; frequently stand and use hands; occasionally reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentThe employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is usually loud.
BenefitsRange of pay for this role is $86,000 to $110,000 USD, salaried. Eligible for quarterly cash bonus plan based on company performance. Employees receive 120 hours paid time off per year and 10 paid holidays. Eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Eligible to enroll in 401(k) plan.
