Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of engineers, designers, and staff on a project basis or individual initiative, and serve as Engineer of Record for projects as assigned.
  • Supervise, review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals.
  • Co‑ordinate between architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, and all electrical trades.
  • Oversee the preparation of designs, including power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for photovoltaic (PV), distributive generation (DG), battery energy storage systems (BESS), or medium voltage (MV) systems.
  • Coordinate between civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations, and field teams, and all electrical trades.
  • Create power system single‑line diagrams, perform feeder and over‑current protection sizing, and draw equipment elevations.
  • Conduct short‑circuit and over‑current protection device coordination studies and Arc‑Flash studies.
  • Perform distribution analysis, including voltage drop, voltage droop, and underground heat‑effect (Neher‑McGrath) calculations.
  • Review and coordinate project specifications and equipment manufacturer information.
  • Visit job sites to conduct field surveys of existing electrical conditions.
  • Use engineering analysis programs and professional judgment to analyze loads, energy production, lighting levels, and short‑circuit currents.
  • Conduct value‑engineering exercises to evaluate construction costs.
  • Lead project design team meetings and interface with clients, architects, contractors, and engineers from other trades.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to align design criteria with budget and schedule.
  • Resolve drawing‑interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors during installation.
  • Generate project specifications and develop a complete and accurate sequence of operations for all designed systems.
  • Supervise testing, commissioning, and performance of equipment and systems.
  • Review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Manage electric engineering coordination with local agencies and external partners.
  • Maintain documentation for building commissioning and resolution of complex technical problems.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering subjects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy conservation, value engineering, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office, Illumination software, and Oracle Engineering Productivity and CAC generation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under changing priorities.
  • Experience working under time pressure and adapting to changing project requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, effective team player.
  • Professional interaction skills with all employee levels, vendors, and clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • One year of on‑site field experience strongly encouraged.
  • US‑based Professional Engineer licensure required.
  • Combination of education, training, and experience accepted.
Travel Requirements

Up to 20% trip travel (local field visits excluded).

Working Conditions

General work environment includes prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium, though it can be louder on a jobsite.
