Control Tower Logistics Specialist

Responsible for providing proactive feedback and recommendations on handling, control, and communication for all aspects related to a specific customer’s program.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with the customer as a single point of contact in support of Operations, IT, and Program Management.
  • Receive and compile daily reports for specific customers.
  • Compile a Weekly Trailer Utilization Report and highlight low‑performing sites; follow up for improvement.
  • Prepare a weekly update for customers to send to management regarding week activity.
  • Assist the ESS team with NDRO and Full Reallocation File Management, handling distribution errors and coordinating correct allocation files with customers.
  • Review the SCAN hygiene weekly report, direct corrective measures to sites, and ensure events are updated before week’s end.
  • Forward missing SCANs to IT where operations have completed updates, investigate incorrect SCANs, and work with IT to resolve issues.
  • Create IT tickets to retrigger missing SCANs and support IT with facility tickets that require escalation.
  • Run the Container Inventory report, verify FIFO and priority compliance, and communicate with facilities not following cadence.
  • Analyze daily reports from all sites, check for ageing freight, query sites for freight over 48 hours, and monitor freight loading within 24 hours.
  • Analyze trailers for FIFO loading, monitor trailers in loading status over 48 hours, and address sites with multiple trailers bearing the same Facility Code.
  • Constantly monitor site refusal frequency, consult operations, and recommend actions to minimize refusals.
  • Monitor containers in demurrage, verify alignment with customs hold, and highlight gaps for pickup.
  • Check the list of containers going into per diem within two days, coordinate with HUDD for pickup schedules, and escalate once containers cross their last free date.
  • Publish daily performance for container per diem and demurrage activities.
  • Conduct Weekly Performance Analysis (ATA to AV, AV to Gate Out, Gate In to Open, Open to Tender, Tender to Pick Up) across all sites to share overall lead time with customers.
  • Review the customer’s weekly SCAN Hygiene report, delegate missing milestones to facilities, and raise IT issues for missing milestones.
  • Support the team with changes in customer loading guidelines and update the SOP as needed.
  • Send the Weekly Trailer Dwell Report to customers to aid yard space management.
  • Identify operational issues raised by customers, update the OIL List, observe facilities, and recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in the weekly Customers IT OIL List meeting to understand ongoing developments and support the Program Manager where required.
  • Assist in planning overall operations for seven facilities.
  • Act as the point of contact for customers to address and resolve problems.
  • Process all FTZ documentation, manage customs record keeping, database entry, and filing.
  • Identify and resolve customs clearance issues; work with Maersk CHB teams to remove holds.
  • Secure delivery appointments and complete track & trace for all shipments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with practical business acumen.
  • Experience with drayage and port activity.
  • Experience managing carrier and logistics performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Ability to prepare and update ad hoc reporting using DDSI proprietary tools and other software applications.
  • Proven ability to identify improvement opportunities, perform business and cost analysis, and make recommendations.
  • Capability to work on multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Self‑starter attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Team‑player mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • General office setting; employee sits at a computer, with short breaks and/or lunch periods.
  • May require bending, stooping, reaching above shoulder level, walking, standing and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly using phone or headset, and navigate and enter information on a computer.
