Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.
Location ProfileLocated in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.
Position SummaryThe Saw-Shear (Cutter) Operator - Level 01 works without assistance and can operate all equipment used to cut material (alloys). Operator can set up all material types and sizes without any assistance across all equipment. Capable of performing equipment OPM’s and able to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Maintains all production logs and able to maneuver through ERP system to update job status.

- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

- Reading job traveler for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut.
- Obtaining and transferring stock to machine by forklift or overhead crane.
- Installing saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation; setting saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts; setting stops and guides to control dimension of cut; positioning and securing stock against stops or in feeding device using straps or chains; turning valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area; starting machine and observing operation.
- Measuring work for conformance to specifications.
- Marking and identifying data on workpiece.
- Steel Stamping letters and numbers on work piece.
- Replacing finished work on pallets or barrels.
- Replacing defective cutting blade.
- Preparing data sheets of cut material and remnants.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of Company.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
