Academic Coordinator provides key administrative and program support for the Philosophy, Religion, and Jewish Studies departments. Working closely with faculty, Academic Affairs staff, and campus partners, this role helps coordinate academic initiatives, manage departmental operations, and support collaborations within the College and with external partners, including the Five Colleges consortium.

As an essential member of the academic team, the coordinator works in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities, contributes to departmental and College goals, and participates in committees, projects, events, and community‑building efforts that advance the mission of the departments and the College.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to faculty and staff across the departments.
  • Assist with budget administration, purchasing, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate academic and curricular activities to support efficient departmental operations.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus offices, including Human Resources, Finance, the Registrar, and the Provost’s Office.
  • Support advising processes, including major/minor declarations and advisor assignments.
  • Assist with academic programs, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Manage departmental communications and maintain effective relationships across the campus community.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and events that support academic and community engagement.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support student employees and other assigned staff.
  • Assist with onboarding new faculty, visiting instructors, and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of administrative or office experience; higher education experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom;
    Workday, Canvas, and Drupal experience a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with budget administration and supervising student or administrative staff preferred.

30 hours per week, working 40 weeks per year.
