Position: Vocational Director
Location: South Hadley High School, South Hadley, Massachusetts
Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight for all vocational and technical education programs.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate vocational faculty and staff.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and district regulations related to career and technical education.
- Coordinate cooperative experiences for students involved in CTE programs.
- Seek and complete grants and Chapter 74 applications through DESE.
- Coordinate curriculum development and program improvement aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
- Collaborate with school administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, families, and community partners to support student success.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and workforce organizations.
- Oversee vocational program budgets, grants, equipment, and resource allocation.
- Monitor student enrollment, attendance, achievement, certifications, internships, and placement data.
- Coordinate cooperative education, internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Support the implementation of safety procedures and ensure compliance within vocational program areas.
- Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of vocational staff.
- Assist in the development of schedules, student recruitment, and program promotion activities.
- Attend School Committee meetings and provide reports as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master’s preferred. - Must have DESE licensure or be eligible for licensure.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in vocational, technical, or educational leadership.
- Experience in supervision and evaluation of staff preferred.
- Knowledge of vocational education regulations, curriculum development, and workforce trends.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
As agreed upon through an individual contract.
EvaluationThe job will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the Superintendent or their designee.
Physical Requirements- Moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and stepping on stools.
- Moderate physical exertion such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds frequently; over 20 pounds infrequently.
- Frequent fine motor manipulation required with computer, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.
Employee is required to work indoors. Regular chemical solvents include toners and cleaning fluids.
