Job Description
PVPA has an opportunity for a full time Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of seventh grade students. In this course, students will explore the roots and philosophical foundations of U.S. democracy. They will be tasked with exploring the governments of ancient Greece and the Roman Republic, and will progress through an examination of enlightenment thinkers and their impact upon the American Revolution and the creation of the United States Constitution.
Students are assessed through a variety of methods using a standards‑based grading system with the goal of supporting and challenging each student. The ideal candidate is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, you will be responsible for the following.
Located in South Hadley, Massachusetts, Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School serves 400 students in grades 7‑12 who come from over 60 cities and towns. Our mission is to offer students intensive exposure to the performing arts within the context of an excellent college preparatory curriculum. With a track record of over 25 years of proven success, the school provides its students with a supportive and challenging academic environment responsive to multiple learning styles, emphasizing learning through the arts and integrating creative and critical thinking throughout the curriculum.
At PVPACPS, committed educators with a wide variety of experience and expertise collaborate to create programming attentive to diversity, social justice and restorative practices. PVPACPS boasts a 600 sq. foot performance space for active programs in theater, music, dance and visual arts, helping students develop confidence, creativity and the broad intellectual skills and experiences necessary to succeed in college and beyond.
Salary Range: $43,268 to $68,719 annually. Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year. The 2026‑2027 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty‑five hour work week that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
