Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Behavior
The Department of Neuroscience and Behavior at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Neuroscience beginning July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build a rigorous program of high-quality research that actively involves undergraduate students. The candidate should possess a record of strong undergraduate teaching, including experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, and religion.
PhD or ABD is required.
Research interests across the discipline are welcome and may include human subjects research, vertebrate or invertebrate models, and/or computational approaches. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to undergraduate education who will contribute to the department's core curriculum at the introductory and intermediate levels, and develop advanced level seminars and laboratory courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is 2/2 (four courses per year).
Applicants are required to submit: (1) a teaching philosophy, (2) a statement of research interests, which would include a brief description of the specific infrastructure needs to support their research, and the feasibility of performing their work at an undergraduate institution, and (3) a statement about mentoring a diverse student body. These materials are due by September 1, 2026.
Minimum starting rate of pay: $90,000.
