Job Description

Co-Teaching and Pull Out experience preferred.

ELA + History experience preferred.

Job Goals:

  • To provide each student with the individually tailored help, counsel, and learning experience they need to make progress toward established educational goals.
  • To create and/or implement a program favorable to learning and student growth.
  • Supervision: Reports to the Building Principal or designee.

    Experience and Training:

  • Certification / eligibility for certification in appropriate grade level and field.
  • Certification and/or licenses as required for individual positions.
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Performance Responsibilities

    Curriculum, Planning & Assessment

  • Knowing the subject matter well, a good grasp of child development and how students learn, and designing effective and rigorous standards-based units of instruction with well-structured lessons and measurable outcomes.
  • Using informal and formal assessments to measure student learning, growth, and understanding to develop differentiated and enhanced learning experiences and improve future instruction.
  • Analyzing data from assessments, drawing conclusions, and sharing them appropriately.
  • Teaching All Students

  • Using instructional practices that reflect high expectations regarding content and effort, engaging all students, and personalizing to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and collaborative learning environment that motivates students to take academic risks and own their learning.
  • Actively creating an environment where students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected.
  • Planning and implementing lessons that set clear and high expectations and make knowledge accessible for all students.
  • Family and Community Engagement

  • Welcoming and encouraging every family to participate in the classroom and school community.
  • Collaborating with families to implement strategies for supporting student learning at home and at school.
  • Engaging in regular, two-way, and culturally proficient communication with families about student learning and performance.
  • Professional Culture

  • Reflecting on and improving the educator’s practice through informal means and team meetings, data analysis, and goal setting.
  • Pursuing professional development to improve practice or assume different instructional or leadership roles.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues on a wide range of tasks.

  • Sharing responsibility for the performance of all students within the school.

    Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the Building Principal or designee, consistent with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation regulations (603 CMR 35.00) and locally developed procedures.

    Physical Requirements: Moderate walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs; occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds; use of computer and other business machines requiring fine motor manipulation.

    Environmental Conditions: Duties performed indoors and sometimes outdoors. Regular solvents and cleaning fluids may be present.
