Aboutthe role
The Project Engineer will play a critical role supporting the Construction Manager and project leadership by managing project documentation, coordinating field activities, maintaining project controls, and supporting commissioning and turnover activities. This individual will serve as a key communication link between contractors, consultants, field teams, and client stakeholders, ensuring project documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with project milestones from construction through final turnover.
Responsibilitieswill include
- Manage the project's RFI and submittal processes
, including tracking, routing, monitoring review cycles, and maintaining accurate status logs. - Maintain project document control by ensuring current drawings, specifications, addenda, and Issued for Construction (IFC) documents are properly distributed and archived.
- Support the Construction Manager with change management
, including tracking change requests, field changes, change orders, and associated schedule and cost impacts. - Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, maintain project action item and decision logs, and follow up on outstanding items to support effective project communication.
- Track subcontractor and vendor deliverables, including equipment submittals, O&M manuals, warranty documentation, commissioning prerequisites, and turnover packages.
- Support project scheduling by coordinating contractor look-ahead schedules, assisting with schedule updates, and identifying potential risks or delays.
- Assist with commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and project turnover by tracking punch lists, system readiness, closeout documentation, and as-built records.
- Collaborate with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation, timely communication, and successful project delivery.
- Maintain organized project records and reporting while supporting quality, schedule, and operational readiness throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role supporting commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, or large-scale construction projects.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, document control, project documentation, and field coordination throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Proficiency with construction management and document control platforms such as Procore, Aconex, Share Point , Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing professional meeting minutes, project logs, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of commissioning documentation, turnover packages, and closeout processes preferred.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced field environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
