Position Overview

Currie & Brown is seeking a Project Safety Advisor, responsible for providing on-site safety support for hyperscale data center construction activities. This role maintains a strong field presence, proactively identifies hazards, supports corrective action implementation, and helps ensure compliance with project safety requirements, high-risk activity controls, and client-specific safety standards. The Project Safety Advisor partners closely with construction teams, contractors, and site safety leadership to promote a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Field Safety Oversight
  • Conduct daily site inspections and field observations to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviors.
  • Document hazards, corrective actions, responsible owners, and target completion dates.
  • Verify corrective actions are implemented and effectively closed out in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field to support safe work practices and provide real-time coaching.
Contractor Safety Compliance
  • Monitor contractor compliance with the project Site Safety Plan, Client Site Safety Requirements, and applicable High‑Risk Activity (HRA) controls.
  • Support field audits and inspections to ensure adherence to established safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and escalate non-compliance issues as necessary and track corrective actions through completion.
  • Support Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews and pre-task planning activities.
  • Verify that required controls are in place prior to the commencement of high-risk work activities.
  • Confirm corrective actions are implemented before affected work activities are resumed.
  • Provide guidance on hazard mitigation and safe work execution.
Safety Engagement & Training
  • Support and participate in toolbox talks, pre-task briefings, and daily safety meetings.
  • Assist with site safety orientations for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Promote workforce engagement through coaching, mentoring, and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain training records and attendance documentation.
  • Support the reporting, documentation, and investigation of incidents and near misses.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities and corrective action development.
  • Track corrective action status through closure and verify effectiveness.
  • Assist in communicating lessons learned across project teams.
  • Monitor and identify energy isolation activities occurring within assigned work areas.
  • Coordinate with Energy Marshal Support personnel and the Authorizing Energy Marshal to ensure compliance with HRA and energy isolation requirements.
  • Promote safe execution of lockout/tagout and energy control activities in accordance with project standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction safety experience supporting active construction projects.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission‑critical, industrial, or large‑scale commercial construction projects preferred.
  • OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 510 certification, as required by the project.
  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • Other site‑required safety certifications
Demonstrated Experience With
  • High‑Risk Activity (HRA) management
  • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) facilitation and review
  • Contractor safety compliance monitoring
  • Incident investigation and corrective action management
  • SPS‑101 Energy Isolation Awareness Training required prior to assignment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with craft personnel, contractors, and project leadership.
  • Proficiency in electronic safety reporting, documentation, and tracking systems.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data center construction projects.
  • Knowledge of energy isolation, commissioning, and mission‑critical startup activities.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced environments with multiple contractors and complex construction activities.
