The LPN job commences to integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. This role also provides direction, education, and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level. The LPN delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
This role safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
- Integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs.
- Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
- Provide direction, education, and begin to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
- Deliver and document direct, age-specific care to patients or groups based on medical orders and an integrated plan of care.
- Safely administer prescribed medications and identify incompatibilities and interactions.
- LPN licensure in Virginia or eligible licensure.
- Any other licensure, certification, or registration requirements as applicable to incumbent’s background and transitional assignment.
- Current LPN licensure in Virginia.
- AHA BLS Certification or equivalent.
- REQUIRED:
Varies based on transitional duty assignment.
- Experience as a LPN in an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice.

Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing.

Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines such as treatments and organizes work to carry out assignment.
