Job Summary
The Data Center Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and organization of structured cabling systems and data center infrastructure. This position is designed for individuals with early-stage experience in data center, low-voltage, commercial construction, or related environments who are ready to expand their technical skills and responsibilities with continued guidance and mentorship.
The Data Center Technician performs fiber and copper cabling installation, assists with infrastructure hardware and network equipment, and supports general data center construction activities. The role requires attention to safety, quality, documentation, and established installation standards while working collaboratively with technicians, leads, and supervisors.
Job ResponsibilitiesPerform structured cabling installations, including fiber and copper cable rough-in, routing, dressing, and organization.
Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling with moderate supervision.
Rack and stack network and data center equipment according to project specifications and rack elevations.
Assist with server builds and related equipment installation.
Install infrastructure hardware, including ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related components.
Read and follow basic blueprints, rack elevations, installation standards, and project documentation.
Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installation into data center facilities.
Receive, organize, and stage project materials and equipment.
Assemble hardware and infrastructure components according to project requirements.
Maintain accurate and organized work areas throughout installation activities.
Follow applicable safety procedures, jobsite requirements, and established work practices.
Communicate professionally and effectively with technicians, leads, supervisors, and other project personnel.
Support additional low-voltage, structured cabling, and data center installation activities as assigned.
1-2 years of experience in a data center, commercial structured cabling, low-voltage, commercial construction, electrical apprenticeship, or related environment.
High school diploma or GED required.
Familiarity with fiber and copper cable types, termination practices, and basic testing equipment.
Basic knowledge of structured cabling installation methods and commercial construction environments.
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, installation documentation, and project specifications.
Ability to safely use basic hand tools and equipment required for structured cabling installations.
Must have basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, and tool pouch.
Must have appropriate steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.
Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Schedule is Monday through Friday with 10-hour shifts.
Current schedule is approximately 50 hours per week.
Weekend work may be required based on project needs.
No travel is required.
