Overview of Position

Under the direction of the Camp iMPACT Director, the Senior Counselor’s role is to plan, lead, and implement camp programs. In addition, they will supervise campers and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement and general well-being.

Essential Duties
  • Uphold, stand by and exemplify camp’s mission
  • Attend staff training and meetings
  • Create a list of rules for classroom and an effective discipline & reward system
  • Consistently enforce classroom rules & expectations with campers
  • Create and maintain a schedule for your age group (based upon established general daily schedule) – must include devotions, academics and theme-related activities
  • Plan for 7 weeks of camp for your classroom following the established weekly themes – a blank lesson plan document will be provided
  • Turn in a copy of lesson plans each week, no later than Sunday afternoon
  • Organize and lead small and large group activities
  • Ensure the cleanliness of your classroom throughout and at the end of the day
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, including daily attendance and incident reports
  • Maintain constant surveillance of campers
  • Supervise students by sight and sound and ensure their health and safety at all times
  • Mediate any disputes amongst the campers in an effective and loving manner
  • Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your campers at all times
  • Record and track camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensure that the meals/snacks are distributed properly
  • Maintain good communication with the parents, including an introduction letter
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude toward students, parents, staff and administration
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect, showing love and patience at all times
  • Perform daily task and responsibilities with integrity
  • Prepare an evaluation for each of your campers at the end of camp
  • Assist in the evaluation of the camp itself
Experience
  • The Senior Counselor must provide the students with a leadership role, and be a positive role model themselves.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged children is preferred.
  • Be a self starter and able to work with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Must have integrity and the ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Must dress appropriately and in a professional manner consistent with our school dress code.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to engage in physical play with students

Pay & Benefits

This position is part-time hourly and is not eligible for any benefits at this time. The pay ranges between $16-$18.

Required Hours

Days of the week and hours could vary depending on the need, but on average, at least 25 hours/week (Monday-Friday)
