MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Supervisor at Spike Electric Controls owns facility infrastructure, manufacturing equipment, CNC machinery, calibrated equipment, and day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and reliable production. This role leads preventive and corrective maintenance programs, coordinates internal resources and external service providers, and drives equipment uptime to protect production capacity, safeguard assets, and maintain a safe working environment. This position also oversees advanced industrial automation and machine-control systems including PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or equivalent), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, compressed air infrastructure, robotic or semi-automated fabrication cells (as applicable), material-handling automation, machine guarding and safety circuits, industrial control panels, and integrated motor and controls systems in a 3-phase manufacturing environment.
Reports to the Production Manager (or COO, depending on structure).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (CONSOLIDATED)
• Culture & Leadership:
Uphold Spike Electric Controls’ values; promote safety, accountability, and operational discipline; collaborate tightly with Production, Engineering, and Quality; supervise maintenance personnel, assign daily priorities, coach/train, set expectations for responsiveness and workmanship, and ensure emergency response protocols are in place.
• Facility & Infrastructure:
Oversee structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and fire protection systems; manage custodial operations, waste disposal, and recycling; coordinate facility improvements/expansions/layout changes; oversee equipment/racking/material-flow moves; ensure OSHA and local regulatory compliance across facility systems.
• Manufacturing Equipment, CNC, and Automation:
Maintain responsibility for all production equipment and support systems (including CNC machines, fiber lasers, press brakes, fabrication equipment, assembly tools, forklifts, motors/controls); troubleshoot and maintain automation/control architecture (PLC/HMI, VFD/servo systems, industrial networks, sensors, safety circuits, machine guarding); monitor performance and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime; coordinate repairs and major service work with OEMs/qualified contractors; maintain service logs and documentation for audits and operational review.
• Calibration & Precision Equipment:
Ensure calibrated tools/equipment are maintained and available; partner with Quality to manage calibration schedules and certification compliance; maintain traceability and documentation consistent with ISO/quality standards; ensure proper storage/handling to prevent damage or drift.
• Tool Room, Assets, and Accountability:
Oversee tool room issuance/return/tracking/organization; implement accountability systems for company-issued tools and specialty equipment; implement inventory controls to prevent loss and ensure availability.
• Preventive / Predictive Maintenance & Planning:
Build and manage preventive maintenance schedules across facility and manufacturing equipment; implement predictive maintenance strategies where applicable; track and report maintenance KPIs (downtime, MTBF, repair cycle times); plan maintenance to minimize production disruption.
• Safety, Environmental, and Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance activities meet OSHA and internal safety policies; enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO); maintain compliance with environmental regulations related to waste, oil storage, compressed gases, and equipment operation; support audit readiness tied to facility and equipment compliance.
• Vendors, Contractors, and Cost Control:
Coordinate external contractors/service providers/vendors; review service contracts and manage maintenance-related spend; evaluate vendor performance and ensure work meets Spike standards.
