Founded in 2011, Sharpen is driven by a vision to transform contact centers into spaces where people don’t just connect out of necessity but because they genuinely enjoy the interaction. Our mission to reinvent contact centers is rooted in the unique experiences of each individual—customers, supervisors, and administrators alike—while holding a deep belief in the paramount importance of agents in the customer experience.
We envision a world where these vital individuals are not just part of the process but the heart of it.
The Sharpen platform delivers a seamless blend of human-centric design and AI technology. This combination delivers a union of efficiency and empowerment, offering insights and streamlined processes that make each connection more meaningful and engaging.
Sharpen is forging a future where contact centers are vibrant hubs of positive engagement. Here, technology is thoughtfully integrated to support and elevate every interaction. Our commitment is to make contact centers both operationally excellent and places where every conversation, every support ticket, and every interaction becomes a moment of genuine connection and satisfaction.
In this endeavor, Sharpen is not only envisioning a new era for contact centers but also actively shaping it to create an environment that people love to connect with, for support, for solutions, and for meaningful interactions.
THE OPPORTUNITYSharpen is looking for a Senior Accountant to be a key individual contributor on our Finance & Accounting team—focused on building and automating the processes that keep our accounting operation running. In this role, you will take primary ownership of designing, documenting, and continuously improving our core accounting processes: month‑end close, accounts payable, payroll and tax compliance, reconciliations, and the systems and internal controls that support them.
This is a builder’s role. Rather than simply maintaining the status quo, you will turn manual, spreadsheet‑driven work into scalable, well‑controlled, and largely automated workflows as the company grows. You will report directly to the Controller and work alongside a Senior Accountant who owns our revenue and AR function—giving you the room to focus on strengthening everything else. If you love finding a better way to do things, documenting it, and automating it so it runs reliably at scale, this is the role for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Own and continuously improve the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close—build a documented close calendar, sequence tasks and dependencies, and drive toward a faster, more reliable, and more automated close
- Design, document, and automate recurring accounting processes across the general ledger—journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets—replacing manual, spreadsheet‑driven work with scalable, repeatable workflows
- Own the accounts payable process end to end—vendor onboarding, invoice intake, approval routing, payment runs, and corporate card and expense management—and build the automation and controls that make it efficient, accurate, and auditable
- Manage payroll accounting entries and reconciliations; own state and local tax compliance filings, business registration maintenance, and the related compliance calendar
- Build and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and internal controls across accounting areas; identify control gaps and implement improvements
- Serve as a functional systems SME across our ERP and connected platforms—configure, optimize, and integrate tools to reduce manual effort, eliminate rekeying, and improve data integrity
- Lead automation and process‑improvement initiatives—evaluate workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions (system configuration, integrations, and tooling) that scale with the company
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned GL accounts; perform flux and variance analysis and commentary for financial reporting
- Contribute to the monthly reporting packet for executive and board‑level review; support preparation of financial statement disclosures in accordance with US GAAP
- Support internal and external…
