Schedule: M - F | 8am - 5pm | In office, possible flexibility with hours
We are hiring a Senior Cost Controls Specialist for an office-based project controls role focused on building and strengthening the cost controls function across a large construction portfolio.
This is a senior role for someone who can take ownership, audit cost codes, validate project cost data, identify gaps in the current process, and help create a stronger cost‑control structure. This person needs to be able to work across project teams, challenge bad data, explain cost issues clearly, and help drive accountability around cost reporting and project controls.
The focus is cost control, cost engineering, data accuracy, reporting, process improvement, and stronger integration with accounting.
What We Are Looking For- Senior-level cost controls, cost engineering, project controls, or construction accounting experience
- Strong ability to audit cost codes and identify where cost data is wrong, incomplete, or not being tracked correctly
- Experience owning cost‑control processes, not just entering or tracking numbers
- Ability to review project cost data, find issues, and push teams for accurate updates
- Strong understanding of how cost controls impact forecasting, project performance, and leadership reporting
- Experience working with project managers, field leadership, accounting, and operations teams
- Ability to communicate clearly, challenge information when needed, and get buy-in from project teams
- Strong comfort with data, reporting, dashboards, systems, and process improvement
- Ability to validate data from Unifier and internal systems
- Power BI or dashboard/reporting experience is helpful
- Ability to pick up Unifier and work in a software-heavy environment
- Forward‑thinking mindset with the ability to improve or rebuild processes
- GC, large subcontractor, oil and gas, or large‑scale construction background preferred
- P6 exposure is helpful because this role overlaps with scheduling
- Residential‑only experience
- Someone who only tracks costs without understanding project impact
- Someone who waits for direction instead of identifying problems
- Someone uncomfortable challenging bad data or weak processes
- Someone who is only field‑focused
- Someone uncomfortable with software, reporting, data, or process change
This is a strong fit for someone who has already been trusted with cost controls, cost engineering, cost reporting, or construction accounting responsibilities and wants to help build the department, not just work inside a process that already exists.
