Job SummaryServe as the first point of contact for students, prospective students, and visitors in the Academic Advising Office, providing professional, courteous, and student-centered customer service. Perform front desk and receptionist responsibilities in a positive, welcoming, and efficient manner while creating a warm and supportive environment for all guests.
Essential Responsibilities & DutiesAssist students in person, by phone, and through other communication channels with scheduling advising appointments, answering general questions, and navigating college resources and services.
Triage student needs, direct individuals to appropriate departments or support services, and proactively communicate student demand and service needs to advising staff.
Utilize college resources, including the Advising website and college A‑Z index, to provide accurate information and timely responses to frequently asked questions.
Support office operations during peak enrollment and registration periods by assisting with crowd management and maintaining an organized, customer‑focused environment. Refer students to campus resources that support their academic and personal success and help ensure a seamless student experience.
This position requires flexibility in both scheduling and work location. Typical business hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday hours (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) during peak registration periods.
We are hiring for two part‑time positions—one for the Redwood campus (afternoon to evening until 6 p.m.) and one at the Jordan campus (afternoon until 4:30 p.m.). Assignments may vary based on departmental needs. Flexibility to work at multiple campus locations and adjust schedules as needed is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Punctuality is essential due to the student‑facing nature of this role.
- Demonstrate a high level of dependability, professionalism, and reliability.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening, verbal communication, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and proactive problem‑solving.
- High school graduate or GED.
- One year of customer service experience in an office setting.
- Experience working in higher education.
