Job Title: Air Quality Field Technician (Mid-Level)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hybrid position between the office & travel.
  • Must have the ability to travel between 2-5 days per week. Transportation will be provided.
  • This position is Monday‑Friday. (Very rare weekend trips could be required)
  • Conduct onsite installations of meteorological and air quality monitoring equipment (analyzers).
  • Assist with operations including analyzer maintenance and calibrations, either remotely or physically at sites.
  • Maintain company‑owned calibration reference standards.
  • Provide meteorological sensor and air quality instrument calibration, maintenance, and audit services for numerous clients in the United States, most in the Intermountain West.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Mid‑level position. 3+ years of direct experience with the operation and maintenance of meteorological sensors and air quality (analyzers) is strongly desired. Experience in this general line of work is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work both with a team and independently.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic understanding is required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The following is preferred, but not required:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, meteorology, or engineering. Practical field experience. Working knowledge of state and environmental (EPA) rules and regulations. Proficient in MS Windows operating environment, plus MS Office experience strongly preferred. Strong client interaction and internal/external communication skills. Experience with meteorological and air quality instrumentation strongly desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to speak, read and write general business correspondence in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to travel freely and frequently. Must be able to function on feet for up to 12 hours per day at field sites. Multi‑day field efforts are not uncommon. Climbing of towers may be needed. Fall protection training and equipment is provided. This position may require lifting more than 50 pounds. Work environments can include industrial settings, remote field work, mountainous locations, extreme weather environments including hot summer heat and cold windy winters, and off‑road and winter driving conditions.
