This full‑time onsite position is based in the United States, with preference for Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Alaska, or near major mining projects, and may include travel per diem for candidates not local to the projects.

Responsibilities
  • Building a team through efficient hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of staff.
  • Managing deployment and rotational schedules of staff across multiple remote sites to ensure site coverage and informed communication.
  • Applying practical knowledge of mining methods, geotechnical considerations, and production constraints through constructability reviews to reduce risk during execution.
  • Assisting engineering, procurement, and project controls staff in development of project execution plans to achieve aggressive targets safely while optimizing cost and schedule.
  • Interface closely with mine operations, engineering, and environmental teams to integrate construction sequencing with ongoing production activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with mining‑specific safety standards, operational constraints, and environmental permitting requirements unique to gold mining operations.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Supporting development of standardized plans and procedures for field activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in large‑scale heavy civil construction and mining infrastructure, such as haul roads, underground access (declines, shafts, drifts), waste rock facilities, tailings systems, heap leach, and/or associated support facilities.
  • Experience assembling and managing construction teams to complete contract requirements while ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals are achieved.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on construction management experience in active mining settings, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked across both open‑pit and underground mine development projects.
  • Knowledge of the development and construction of mineral processing facilities (e.g., crushing, milling, recovery circuits); prior processing plant construction experience preferred.
  • Understanding of heap leach pad construction, stacking systems, solution management infrastructure, and related environmental controls.
  • Commitment to safety. MSHA required, OSHA 30‑hour training preferred.
  • Experience with construction plans and specifications and relating that to project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to liaise between designers, owners, contractors, and end‑users.
  • Certifications preferred (PE, PMP, CCM, etc.).
  • Able to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment both above and underground.
  • Must pass a drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
