Senior Utility Engineer
WSP wishes to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated Senior Utility Engineer to join the 'UK GCC Development Infrastructure' team in Bangalore which provides detailed infrastructure designs for both public and private sector Clients. The ability to plan and design deliverables against UK Engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided where necessary.
ResponsibilitiesTo lead the design, coordination, and delivery of wet and dry utility systems for infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with UK standards, minimizing design conflicts, and enabling safe and buildable solutions. The role focuses on integrated utility modelling, coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration to support high-quality project delivery.
Key Competencies / SkillsMandatory Skills
- Good command of written and verbal English
- Significant experience in utility infrastructure including wet and dry utility modelling
- Develop and review 3D utility models (Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks)
- Perform clash detection and resolution to prevent construction conflicts
- Ensure proper utility corridor planning, levels, and separation distances
- Maintain data quality aligned with PAS
128 survey levels - Preparation of General arrangement drawings, Utility cross-sections, Longitudinal sections and profiles.
- UK experience essential and understanding of codes and standard NJUG guidelines and UK DNO and IGEM standards
- Problem solving and originality
- Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind are essential requirements for the role.
- High degree of self-motivation and ability to motivate others.
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimum of supervision.
- Ability to check work to ensure quality deliverables
Desired Skills
- Project management and line management welcomed but not essential
- Strong knowledge of Wet utilities (drainage, water, sewer systems) and Dry utilities (power, telecom, gas systems)
- Utility corridor planning and priority allocation
- Understanding of:
- PAS
128 surveys - NJUG guidelines
- UK DNO and IGEM standards
- Civil 3D (pipe networks)
- Navisworks (clash detection)
- Microstation is added advantage
- Master of Science or bachelor's degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering
- At least 6 years postgraduate (or equivalent) experience of working with drainage projects
- Experience to work in/with other cultures.
- Preferable chartership from recognized profession institution like ICE.
