Position Summary
The Collections Specialist I is responsible for the daily collection of past‑due Recreation Lending loans. This role helps manage delinquency within acceptable target levels while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and management guidelines.
Essential Functions- Maintain delinquency levels within assigned loan portfolio in alignment with established target rates.
- Monitor assigned accounts and keep management informed of portfolio status, trends, and potential risk areas.
- Perform skip‑tracing activities on accounts as needed to support collection efforts.
- Ensure collection activities comply with applicable federal and state collection laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Complete assigned daily workflow accurately, timely, and in accordance with department expectations.
- Understand and comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the Bank and the role.
- Escalate operational issues, potential policy violations, code of conduct concerns, regulatory concerns, or suspected illegal activity as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) or more years of experience in collections, customer service, or a call center environment required.
- Experience managing or supporting a similar loan portfolio, with an emphasis on sub‑prime lending, preferred.
- Experience applying general accounting fundamentals, business practices, or banking principles required.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with applicable federal and state collection laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Communicates effectively and professionally through verbal and written channels.
- Demonstrates strong negotiation skills, including the ability to influence, persuade, and reach mutually acceptable resolutions.
- Maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with customers, team members, and management.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Works effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Understands sub‑prime collection practices and applies sound judgment when supporting collection activities.
- Proficient in job‑related computer systems and software used to perform collection and account management activities.
Work is in an office environment, sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; works with computer equipment for prolonged periods of time. Some stress may occur. Travel is generally not required. This position reports to an assigned Team Leader and supervises no one.
